“Estate planning complements my passion for helping others. I care deeply for my clients and use my expertise to implement their unique estate planning goals.”
Julia guides clients through the estate, tax, and charitable planning process and brings a unique skill set to her legal practice. Julia previously worked as a family therapist, which helps her better listen to clients to understand their goals and legal needs. Julia Rice became licensed to practice law in the state of Oregon in 2007. Prior to opening her own firm, Julia worked at larger firms in Oregon. However, she quickly became disenchanted by the emphasis on profits versus clients’ needs. Julia knew there was a better way to practice law, and she opened her own boutique firm in 2010. Julia continues to provide compassionate and high-quality legal services to clients in their time of need.
Julia also has multiple advanced degrees that enable her to ensure clients’ needs are met. Julia holds a B.A. in psychology from Arizona State University; an M.A. in marital and family therapy from the University of San Diego; a J.D. (law degree) from Willamette University College of Law; and an LL.M. in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law. Julia graduated from law school cum laude and served on Willamette Law Review.
Julia also has experience both in and out of the courtroom. This experience provides her with valuable insight into the types of issues that lead people into court. Julia seeks to help clients avoid the costly and contentious litigation process through advance planning and attention to detail. In 2010, Julia received an award for being the Arno Denecke lawyer of the year.
Julia served as an elected member of the Oregon State Bar’s Board of Governors for four years, and she served for three years as an elected member of the Oregon State Bar’s House of Delegates. Julia actively participates in numerous organizations, including the Willamette Valley Estate Planning Council, Oregon Women Lawyers, Estate Planning Council of Portland, Clackamas County Bar Association, Multnomah County Bar Association, and the Estate Planning and Tax sections of the Oregon and Washington State Bars. Julia has published numerous articles and has presented extensively to attorneys and other professionals. Julia’s practice focuses exclusively on probates, trust administrations, and estate planning.
